mid June update

imageimage

Weather has played its toll of late but fish are there for those daring wind. Some real nice trout, flounder and drum being caught, just have to have patience and move around. Black drum are in river now too. My grandson caught 3 and lost 2 before Fridays storm and had a blast.

Had a trip last week with a Mom and Son bonding day. Boy did we have fun. Managed to catch a couple trout and a slot drum. I am suppose to announce that Mom is 58 and single! I told her I wasn’t a dating service but would do it for here. How about fun.

Will be doing some surf fishing and chicken neck crabbing with grandson for a report next time. Should be fun and educational for him.

Won’t be long before we see tarpon and drum with a few unconfirmed reports of some sightings. Will be keeping a supply of Lupton rigs for drummers and tackle for tarpon too. If you need fresh bait – call early to assure availability.

I want to acknowledge the great work of Fairfield Harbor Fishing Club. They held their take a kid fishing day with Big Brother/Big Sisters recently. Sounds like they had a great day with the kids. We all need to do all we can with kids and fishing. Next year I may take my boat and grandson out with them too.

Call me if you need any additional information or care to charter a Fun day of safe fishing targeting trout, flounder or drum. Can also do trips to the Cape Lookout area for those desiring a good scenic trip too.

June 1 Update

imageimageimageimage

Been an up and down week. Had a phun trip with the Watkins (she is soon to be) with a lot of casting for a few fish but they said they had fun. She even taught me a cure for jellyfish stings! It was a tough day of fish where nice fish had been caught days before with a lot of obstacles to work around.

Weighed in a nice 5.12 flounder caught off the beach fishing structure. They had a good day and fooled me when he rode up on a motorcycle with flounder in his backpack.

Cobia still around with early Spanish in river.

Received my custom ordered 38MRs from Mirrolure for you ole time guys that know their catching ability. Have Old style in 26, 19, 705, 808 and 704 (texas chicken) and also 7MR704 as well. Can’t buy these just anywhere.

Also have several clean used Penn reels – 345, 113H, 309, and Jigmaster 500.  Have some used Ugly stick offshore rods in the 6’6” MH and heavy to match with.

Call me if you wish to target either inshore or cobia while bite is good.
